On This Day of That Year: Sachin Tendulkar hits first ever double ton in ODI

By: Yasser Ayaz
Tweets at @yasser95697306

On 24 February 2010, Sachin Tendulkar became the first cricketer to hit double hundred in One Day International(ODI) Cricket.

Against whom?

It was against South Africa. In 2nd ODI (D/N) at Gwalior, India won the toss and elected to bat first. With that marvelous batting performance, India was able to put a huge total of 401 runs for the loss of 3 wickets. South Africa only managed to score 248 runs in 42.5 overs and India won that match by 153 runs.

Batting Analysis:

The speed of Tendulkar’s innings was breathtaking. He faced just 147 balls hitting 25 fours and three sixes. His strike rate of 136.05 was higher than any of the other innings on the list of top ten scores one-day international scores.

What did Sachin Tendulkar say about the knock?

There was no doubt who will be the Man Of The Match(MoM). After receiving the MoM, he expressed his happiness and dedicated his knock to people of India.

"I don’t know how to react. I’d like to dedicate this double-hundred to the people of India for standing behind me for the last 20 years throughout the ups and downs. I felt that when I was 175-plus and it was the 42nd over I had a chance, but I wasn’t actually thinking of it. It was only when I got closer to it that I thought about a double hundred” said Tendulkar.

Cricket has changed, so has its rules; number of double hundreds has gone up to 5, however, the first double ton still lingers on the minds of cricket lovers.

BCCI also tweeted about this day of that year.

A fellow competitor’s spikes hurt my leg during the race. Overall, I am happy with my timing,” said Seema after the game.

By -: Rishika Sharma

How it feels to look at something, standing straight, firm and with proud. Covered with white shining snow, revealing beauty of being so high. Yes, mountains which provides us immense pleasure, are symbol of strength and being tough, looking straight no matter whatever comes.

Mountains unveiling the beauty of nature.
Trackers love to live with mountains and keep exploring, always trying to reach at the top. It's an endless journey. Once you start exploring the nature, you don't need to answer anything else. People are always fond to see the world from top of the mountains. What a feeling that would be! Snow caped mountains, morning sun rays falling on it, rays passing through tiny droplets of dew on grass. Mesmerizing scenic beauty.

Ban on the red flashing lights of vehicles: End to VIP culture

By: Narinder Sharma

Ban of red beacons in India has given a rise to end of VIP culture. Last week centre Government ordered to ban the red beacons of ministers, from 1st may it has been implemented. Additional information in this is that red and blue lights are getting removed from all the dignitaries. This is a symbolic decision taken by the central govt. in this month.
Prime minister of India  Narendra Modi said "banned on red beacons aimed at ending VIP culture  mindset in India". But with this people have to change their mindsets also which are linked with red lights on the vehicles. this is not a new step taken by the central government, other government also tried this in past, but it is implemented now.

“There will be no exception to this”, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways said in a statement that beacons were “perceived as symbols of VIP culture and have no place in a democratic country”, and hailed the decision of the cabinet as “historic”.
India ban red beacons on cars of constitutional office bodies, so they will now sit in traffic with everyone else. it is expected now that there will be no red lights flashing on vehicles. Everyone will be treated equally. nobody will have to wait while some minister or VIP person is going on the road.

Bid to end VIP culture: No red beacons, two year foreign travel ban for ministers in Punjab. with ban on red flashing lights on vehicles, Punjab chief minister  has banned the foreign travel of ministers, in a bid to end VIP culture.
Beacons will be allowed on to the emergency vehicles ambulances and fire brigade. Now these vehicles don't have to wait in the lines, if there is some kind of emergency they will be given first priority.

Who will win the ground in five state?

Seventh and final phase of the assembly election in Uttar Pradesh and Manipur is over by 8th March. It brought an end to the assembly election fever across Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Manipur and Goa which extended from 11th February through seven phases. People and political parties, especially from these states as well as across the country are eyeing the 11th march for the results. Everybody is waiting with their finger crossed for the results to come out.
Election fever and the suspense over the results have not spared the Central University of Himachal Pradesh (CUHP) campus also, as it has students and faculty from the states which faced the polls and everybody has their own theories about the outcome. To get the pulse of the speculations, we talked to the students and faculty members about the upcoming election results.

Anand Vardhan Singh Chimni talking on upcoming assembly election results 2017

According to the students of central university of himachal pradesh the result will sway towards the third front in Punjab. Anand Vardhan, a student of dept of journalism said that "the results will go in  favor of AAP because the youngsters of Punjab found the third front out of BJP and congress." He also thinks that in the state of UP, no one can tell about the results because all the fronts in  the fray are strong.
But some of the students also said that BJP  has a strong chance in the state because of Modi impact. Faizan Ahmed, a student of MBA-Travel and Tourism said that "BSP have their own vote bank in the state and the party will perform good in UP." But no one have clear idea about the result that who will come with more seats in the state.

Faizan Ahmed(student) talking on upcoming UP election result.

There is lots of confusion in the minds of the people about who will win the Uttar Pradesh election on 11th march. It is not easy to predict or say about a state of 403 constituencies.
“ Is bar UP mein trikoniye mukabla hone jaa raha hai, jiske bare me btana abhi mushkil hai (This time it is going to be a triangular contest in UP which is difficult to predict)", says Faizan Ahmed, a student of MBA-TT.

Vishal Sharma, a phd scholar dept of mass communication and journalism talking on upcoming election result in five states.

“The election will be typically beneficial for the BJP In all of the five state. there are  many reasons for this. But main reason is congress is going away from the nation and BJP is the only growing national party in India. And the Modi influence also has an impact on the minds of the public” says Vishal sharma, a phd scholar dept of mass communication and journalism.
Over all the campus stands divided on the outcome of the elections. According to the exit polls the results across the states may give a mix up picture. BJP may come single largest party in the state of UP and some others, but still there could be stronger invisible undercurrents. In case of Uttarakhand and Manipur there may be some Modi wave impact. But in Punjab and Goa, AAP has put up a good performance and have chances to get favorable.
However for some people the outcome of the result seems less important, all they look for is good governance. “No party is good or bad,  but all i care about is that who makes the government should present good administration for the benefit of the public in every state.” says Shoaib Khan, UDC at the office of the Controller of Examinations.
De-layer will updating the assembly election results on 11 march2017. wait and watch what will happened tomorrow. stay tuned for live update in our twitter handle and here.

Central university Students hair style

BY: ANJNA DEVI

Abhishek Kumar

As the new session at Central University of Himachal Pradesh starts at the end of January, students are coming to the campus for the fresh semester. The fresh semester seems to be so hip with most of the students donning a different hair-do than last year.
Just a look around the campus, you see all types of hair-dos. Well, we don’t know if sky is the limit, but one glance around the campus, we know hair is no limit to be trendy and creative. “I try to maintain my hair style to that of my favourite actor,” says Abhishek kumar who is a second semester student of MA Sanskrit. Abhishek is not alone.
Amit Bhatiya(selfie)

Amit Bhatya student of MSc Physics last semester says that they follow their favourite singer hair style because it provides them the trendy look.

Being hip with the hair is not just a boy terrain in CUHP. But following the hair steps of their favourite actress is a popular trend among girls also. “”. But apart from these Bollywood ‘divas’, many girl students in the campus maintain straight hair style, and to stand out in the crowd, some others have coloured their hair.
Supriya Dhar(in pink top) and Swati in blue dress with their friends
Keeping trendy hairstyles is not only accepted among the junior students but also followed among students of the senior batch. Swati and Suprya Dhar, both fourth semester students of MBA department say they maintain these styles because they can be easily done and it does not take much time to folding their hair with their present hair-do. “And this style also gives fashionable looks”, they added.
